Bottle On System Sniper
Here's just a glimpse into my latest project - a retrofit of one of my copper guns to include an on-board regulated and controlled air system - refills in as short as 2 seconds (or less if I give it "full throttle" haha)!
I am using a 92 cu in 4.5K PSI tank that I also use for paintball to supply the air. It's output is a consistent 800PSI via tank regulator. Then it is run into a 0-300psi capable regulator, which feeds into the gun and also has a micro 0-300psi gauge to indicate chamber pressure so I can keep track of it during charging.
To fire it, you simply flick a lubricated 3/8" brass ball valve (very very easy to actuate) and SNAP!! at 200 psi (all I've done yet, as it's night now) it produces a nice sharp crack of report. Despite how it looks, you can hold your hand on the "handle" like any normal gun, and the thumb trigger just falls into place, and feels natural to the shooter, as if you basically just pull your thumb off the grip tube and there it is.
This gun is sure to produce some pleasing results! To accentuate it's consistancy with patched .54 caliber lead musket balls, i've fitted a dove tail rail on top which will later have a low power scope on it.
And without further ado -
The design - I would like to say is my own, because back when I originally made the two copper guns (both the 50 cal [pictured] and 75 cal where made almost 2 years ago now) I hadn't seen anything like it. the upright connecting to the "tee" which the valve sits in is the handle, if anyone wondering, sorry no fancy play-do handles for me! just functional copper lol.
Let me know what you guys think! I can't wait to fire this gun tomarrow at 200+ psi. And for anyone wondering, This is my "side project" to bide time until I can cart "10 gallon" over to a properly sized shooting range. This gun I can shoot in my back yard - 10 gallon needs a VERY big backyard, which mine is not! lol
