I want to build a simple air cannon that can fire multiple shots (5 ish) off a single air fill. I was thinking some sort of 2 chamber design where 1 chamber can be used to re-fill the other one after each shot.

What is the simplest and cheapest way to achieve this?

Simplest way is probably the one you desrcibed. I've done it and it works well. You can separate the chambers with a ball valve and leave it barely open so the smaller chamber refills automatically. And then, if you have a modded sprinkler for a main valve, you get semi auto.

Or invest in a three-way valve. :D Do a search for semiautomatic cannons. There are plenty out there. They're actually quite easy to pull off.

Is it really necessary to modify the sprinkler valve? How well would it work with just the solenoid trigger? I'm on a limited budget and don't have access to things like taps.

You can get very cheap fittings on eBay these days, with this slide valve and this quick exhaust valve you will have a semi auto valve unit for less than $17 posted.

Great Idea! I was thinking about building one of these myself, and never thought of that I'm going to have to try it.

Get a large-ish steel "tank" (pipe and fittings or existing tank) and fill to higher pressures. Use a regulator between it and your gun's tank.

If you don't feel like making/buying a pump for this, you can use HPA/CO2 or use a fridge compressor.

Or you could just use two PVC tanks, but depending on the relative sizes of the tanks you may not get very many full power shots...

I guess semi-auto isn't as important to me as the ability to get off multiple shots relatively quickly. If it takes a few seconds to refill the chamber, that's fine.

I want to do something like this:

You can get semi auto with any gun if you have a large compressor. Do you have one?

That's a rhetorical question right

woow mate stand back i think that a little advance for you.

If you do it put the fitting in a double layer part like where fittings and pipe meet not at the end like he did.

Actually, I'd rather have a set up like this:

http://supersoda.com/content/images/000 ... 001423.JPG

Does anyone know what fittings those are? Some kind of 1/4" to 1/2" threaded adapter? And then a 1" x 1/2" tee?

Looks like you're right, them tees have threads on the 1/2" ports though.
