So I had this idea a year ago. When I was younger, I bought a rocket fishing rod. It broke the second I opened it. So I got a regular rod and decided I liked fishing occasionally. But I am no master caster.
So then I figured, why not just build a air cannon to launch your line out to the bloody middle of the lake. I did some research and saw this air cannon.

Seems pretty cool. People have made Surf launchers before so I figured this would be a cool Mini version, and would be like a rocket fishing rod for REAL MEN.
So here is my questions. If I make that cannon, how far could I launch A 2 inch foam bobber(fits the bore best and seals) out, thats carrying a foot of line, hook, bait and small lead shot. I do want to exceed 50 PSI either.
Furthermore, at what point would this fail and how can I mitigate that danger? I know that higher PSI will be dangerous, but what should be the true limit? If I attatch several hose clamps, will they prevent the pipe shrapnel from leaving the cannon, limiting shrapnel to the business and air intake ends?
So I suck at casting my line.....

When life gives you lemons, concentrate their Citric Acid, and load into a home brew CO2 driven Super duper soaker.
Then show life who's boss.
Well, if you think about it, a large piston valve launcher is an option, bit you would probably have to Cary either a compressor or an air source (co2 cartridge or a container profiled with air, or a container connected to a compressor, effectively making a low volume compressor.)
when life gives you lemons... make root beer and leave the world wondering how you did that
