My BSP (bovine safe pneumatic) v2
Posted: Wed Nov 21, 2018 3:10 pm
Here is my latest pneumatic.
I have been working on this gumball shooter for the better part
of this year trying to create a mechanism which:
1- will shoot 36 gr/.625" gumballs.
2- use hardware store parts as much as possible.
3- be cheap to make.
4- the diy parts are easy to make.
5- use no epoxy.
Did I succeed? Well, I think I came close.
Here is how it worked out.
It should shoot plain gumballs about 350 fps according to GGDT.
All the metal parts with the exception of the QEV and barrel are
plain plumbing pipe and fittings.
The butt stock is 3/4" plywood and the wood parts are oak strips
from Home Depot.
The QEV is about $35 and available from Grainger in the USA.
The "ball rolling out the barrel preventer" is a 20 gauge wad
guide available from Midway and other suppliers for about $3.
The barrel is an aluminum tube 1" od and .635" id 12" long
available from online metal suppliers.
The barrel air seal is a 3/4" vinyl tube cap with the center cut out.
The sight is a $10 BB/pellet gun red dot sight from Academy Sporting
Goods with a diy mount.
I will be glad to answer any questions you all have.
Pics show both sides and an exploded view of major parts.
ETA: The barrel is the difference in v2.
Top half is the barrel holder/receiver.
Yellow is 8" length of 1" type "k" rigid copper.
Blue is a 1/2" brass connector.
Orange is a 1/2"sleeve shaved to fit inside the copper tube.
Green is the gumball loading port.
Purple is the cutout for the bolt/operating handle.
Lower half is the barrel:
Black is a 12" aluminum barrel 1" outside (slip fit in copper tube).
-bore is slightly over .625"
-turned down to 7/8" for about 1" to hold a vinyl plastic cap
-opened up to .700" for 9/16" to hold the 20 ga wad finger thing.
-I drilled the side through to thread a 1/4" bolt which I shortened to clear the gumballs.
Light blue is a vinyl tube cap (3/4" D about 1" L) with a 5/8" hole cut in the back.
-it easily stretches to fit over the 7/8" section of the barrel.
Pink is a 20 gauge wad guide shortened to about 1/2" to keep the balls from rolling away.
Gold is the operating handle.
Thanks for looking.
