ok i built a gun using the sprinkler valve, and used 3 9 volt batteries to trigger the solanoid. it worked great for about 2 hours then stopped shooting the ammo out and now it just sort of "farts" it out and the ammo goes about 5' due to the air releasing very slow.

i thought i had a bad valve so i went down and got a new one, but same dang thing... changed the batteries and same dang thing...

do i just need to stop using the electric solonoid and "mod" my valve with the blow gun?

if you mod it there will be no need for batterys, and modding the valve will make it open faster. open faster = better performance

ps - the "farting" your hearing is called honking, it is very common with un-modded valves becuase of the fact that water has more mass than air

Honking can also be casued by too much air comeing in, how is your chamber being filled? If it is from a compressor, try putting a flow valve on it, and seeing if that helps.

A flow valve is a type of valve that is used to constrict the amount of air that can pass thru it.

did the mod and it works awesome now!

thanks guys

it shoots alot farther now compared to the battery switch i was running. i used to shoot a ball of masking tape down the street and land it in my neighbors driveway and make my kid chase it, but first shot after the sprinkler mod and the ball cleared the driveway and cleared his house and kept going...
