This is my first attempt at building a spud gun. I decided to go with a pneumatic gun due to the consistency factor they seem to have over combustions. I made the chamber of this gun out of 1 1/2" PVC piping. It consists of 4 couplings, 2 elbows, and 1 end cap. I am big into aesthetics and personally like the flush chamber style much more (Plus I believe it adds some safety value to it). The valve is a modded 1" Rainbird sprinkler valve w/ blowgun actuation. The barrel is 2' of 3/4"CPVC piping with a 3/4" coupling on the end. I have yet to include breech loading on it simply because Im not sure on the best way to do so with keeping it looking ok. I've only tested it up to 50 PSI since im not too sure how high it is safe to take one of this size. But the test fires more than pleased me. You can barely see the PB as it leaves. Unusual design, love the flush coupler look. Bet it's a fun plinker.

one thought on your blow gun trigger.I had the exact same one and it didnt dump as fast as a different one i had around so you may want to see about getting a different one to see if you gain some power i know i did.very noticable differents.

I appreciate the tip Locksmith, I got a few more laying around my shop so I will swap em out and see if I notice a difference as well.

Paintballs sure are. There's probably some sinkers that'll fit.

I really like your gun though. Excellent job making the whole thing flush. It looks better that way.

Yeah you can use lead sinkers....I was shooting through 1/2" MDF board with them....it rips the MDF up Ill try and find out what size I used for my 3/4" barrel.

Nice design, expecially for a first effort With regards to ammunition if you can get some hands on 12 gauge shotgun sabots they fit pretty well in a 3/4" barrel and only weigh about 3 grams so you can launch practically anything that fits.

12 gram CO2 capsules cut in half with a bit of lead melted into the closed end for weight also make great slugs

Yeah ill probly head out later with an extra peice of pipe to see if I cant find any good ammunition. I like the idea of shooting things that actually have mass to them.

How much PSI would it be safe to take this up to. All the fittings are NSF-PW.

I'd say it could easily take whatever your compressor can put out unless you have one of those 3,500 psi scuba tank pumps

120 psi would be safe, 150 would be probably be fine as well. Wouldn't take it too much further though.

Yeah my compressor only goes up to 125, and I wouldnt imagine putting 3500psi into anything unless I was in a bunker so I could watch the show.

I put that much pressure into my precharged pneumatics on a regular basis
