safe effective air supply
well im planning on making a paintball gun and i was going to use co2 until i found out it wasnt safe and wasnt really gonna work. so is there anything i can use thats safe and effective? id prefer not to pump, but i would if its the last resort

so you want something safe that isnt pressurized? You can use compressed air, propane, or co2, there isnt whole lot you can use......

i mean safe as in not gonna explode. the guy at the paintball store said co2 isnt very smart to use with a homemade gun

see i was buying a regulator for co2 but the guy told me it cold explode. even though its really not that bad, my mom was there and she heard so its more so that im actually allowed to do it

My idea, an idea I would use if I ever use CO2, is that you hook up the regulato to a 1 foot or so hose, to a length of 3/4" or 1" steel pipe as an expansion chamber, to a 2 foot hose coiled up in a roll, then to an air chuck. The steel pipe and hoses would keep the liquid CO2 from getting into your chamber.
you know what you could do is convince your mom that it is safe if it have a pressure release valve.
what the release valve does is when it gets to a cirtain pressure (say 100 psi) it pops open and reseals when it gets to about 80 psi. that wa it is impossible for it to go above the maximume pressure of the pipe.

would that also work as a normal valve too or would i have to get a second valve?

A pressure release valve doesn't let air out that fast so I don't think you'd be too happy using it as your main valve.
is IS a valve, so yes it would work as a valve because it is a valve.
i think what you maen is can you use it as a fill valve and the answer is no. all it does is open up when it gets to whatever pressure it is set at. when it drops below its seal pressure, it seals again.
