6" Cannon
yay I rated a 10!... lol... We need to teach theese kids a lesson... Using Acetylene, Oxygen, Gas, NOS, or any high power feul in and type of chamber isn't safe... when spudzinger says
"For the oxy/acetylene gun you'd probably want something like a steel barrel and combustion chamber to be surrounded by concrete"
you really would need something like that, and it still isn't truely safe, or even practical

ahh hey they carry that gray pvc at homedepot in the electrical department and the white 4" pvcsch40 is expensive from the local shop. would that gray pvc be safe? would it work in a pnuematic?
I've actually got a oxy/acetylene gun that i made a while back, its pretty simple, just something i quickly stuck together when i was bored. Its about 8mm steel tube a 1 1/2 ft long, welded onto 1/2inch base plate, i usually flushed it out with oxygen and then added some acetylene and stood back and lit it. Its not really that dangerous (just very very loud) cause all the pressure made in it is gonna blow the hell out of whatever ur shooting before blowing up in ur face.
PS what its the go with so many people actually thinking that nos if flammable or explosive, its just an oxidiser, it cant burn on its own.

It's a very good oxidiser that can cause things in its presence to burn or explode vigorously.
I would like to know how well this cannon performs,I have some 6" pipe ,but unless it performs much better than a 4" combustion I wouldn't waste any time or money on the project,
I would like some honest info related to the performance of a 6" combustion cannon.

Just a random fact about Oxy, when exposed to pressure more than 15psia it will explode, just like that. And on that topic, pure Oxygen will also explode when in contact with any petroleum substance so the two gases are not best suited for pototae guns. Just putting that out there.

i think 10 would be holding a lit m80 bottle rocket (yes they make them) and looking down the barrel of a potato gun that someone is about to fire.

Oxygen is stored at 3000+ psi as a compressed gas. If it exploded at 15 psi, we'd all be screwed - big time.
Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

Ok first of all im tired of all of you calling Nitrus Oxide NOS, NOS is a company (Nitrus oxide systems) It is not a gas, Second of all Nitrus oxide is an oxadizer, theirfore it is not flamible. thirdly acetylene is unstable at 15 psi when exposed to oxegen. You could fill a paper bag full of acetylene and pop it and it would explode ( i do not, however recomend this because the sound alone cases partial hearing loss and the flame will burn your eyebrows right off) yes ive done this and i wish i wouldnt have.

NOS dosen`t even burn! it get the engine to think its bigger than it is!beebs111 wrote:i like the custom cleanout plug, but are u usin the nos for fuel or just comparison? i thought that if u used high power stuff like that u would die
