Has anyone ever seen a Taser used as an ignition? I'm not talking about a stun gun. Taser X-26 is what I'd like to see. I carry one for work.

im not sure than anyone here has used that exact same model, but im sure a taser would work because it works off simular principles as a stun gun.

why dont you just try it and tell us?

New one's are about $1,000. I've never seen them on e bay. Maybe I'll take a spent cartridge to the range and hook it up to my cannon. The wires are around 15ft long. Instant remote ignition!

o Ya that would work for sure! A taser is basically the same thing as a stun gun. If you take of the cartrige there is the same spark you see on a stun gun, but with higher voltage, becuase it has to traveling through those wires into the victim. Without the cartrige on a taser, its a stun gun. But y would you use a taser? you can just rig up a stun gun with wires on each electrode going from you to the gun, and it would be the same differnece.

Ok, so far no one has answered my question. I know a Taser will work. (50,000 volts, makes a spark, been shot with it, had to shoot bad guys with it.) Has anyone actually seen one incorporated into a spud gun design? Sorry if my first post was too vague.

simply put, no. tasters (as you mentioned before) are really expecive. stunguns on the other hand are only about $25 or so.

25 is being a bit high, I can get the for around 15$.
I'm sure someone has used a taser out there, but I doubt that it is worth it.

Well it depends on the kind of stun gun you use. A taser usually has more voltage than the cheapest 100,000 volt stun gun.

So if he would plan on buying the cheapest stun gun, then hes better of with the taser probably, cuase he could also make it remote for no extra $$

If the Taser can make a spark between it's projectile points, without the points actually touching, then yes it will work.

Kind of overkill to use a $1000 device when you can get a cheapo stungun for $10~$20.

If your Taser was purchased by a gov't agency (your employer) for use at work it is probably illegal to use it outside of work. If I was you boss, and I paid for the $1000 device, I wouldn't want you f'ing around with it outside of work.

Kind of a PITA to rewind the wires at the end of a shooting session.

"Remote" ignition can be done just as easily with a standard stungun. Just use any old gauge wire from the stungun's spark gap out to the gun. Keep the wires separated by more than the total spark gap width and there won't be any sparking between the wires.

Yes, the Taser can make a spark between the probes. They would have to be mounted about 1 1/2" apart.

Yes, it would be overkill. But just think of the coolness factor.

Finally, a responsible person. I wouldn't want the officers I'm in charge of to play around with these things outside of work. Every time the Taser is used it stores information that can be downloaded to a computer so I can check if anyone has been f%*$@#g around with them. Why risk my career to launch a spud. I just wanted to see what kind of crowd I'm dealing with.

One shot per cartridge. Can't rewind the wires.

Good info to keep the spark gap the same as the stu gun. I'll be going to stun gun ignition after my bbq button dies
