That would be an awesome gun... Totally self contained and looks like it has plenty of power and then some. Oh and it's ginormous!

If you guys click the Link button it will take you to Youtube and you can watch his other videos. He has a smaller version of that cannon in the same paint scheme.

That IS my next project lol. All I have to do is find a way to attach the barrel (pvc) to the chamber (steel).

Hi,

Well I have seen those PVC fittings used on the chamber shatter. In a combustion. Would have loved to show you the video but it seems to have been removed. The pipe and fittings are DWV and the large ones (> 110 mm) just aren´t up to the pressure.

But it sure looks nice and big on the video.

They speak Norwegian in the video..

Glad you guys like it. I've seen the video's your talking about Dongfang. I watched several "Potato Gun Explosion" type video's last night.

In all the videos I watched every part that failed was DWV. I watched several where the bell reducer detached and shot like a javelin away from the chamber. There was one especially good one where a Wye chamber completely disintegrated in a guys hands.

Maybe we could post them in a thread titled "The Dangers of DWV" lol [/i]

Hi Dornep,

Was that the one once on appelsin-kanon.dk? The one where he shot through the car windows first, and when he tried the second time, the gun blew up?

The ... person ... even built another one of the same kind, as far as I remember. That blew up, too.

I like PP as a material. Very strong (better than PVC?), it can´t crack. But there is almost nothing that will adhere to it. You have to come up with ingenious secret ways (yeah, of course I know one...) or use loads of large hose clamps, nuts and bolts.

I used to tell the people at appelsin-kanon that drain pipe is only good for c..pping in it. They didn´t like that...

Hi Dornep,

Exactly that one...

That orange colored stuff is the hard PVC drain pipe color in Europe (and the original gun of this thread is not painted)...

I guess the "Bøsen" (the ones with the 110 mm monster gun) people have slid the black chamber pipe through those orange colored tees, so it should be ok...

For raw power, still nothing impresses me more than .

The cannon in the video was made by me and its mostly pvc pipes.
the combustion chamber and all the pipes with a diameter over 110 mm is pvc.
the barrel and 2x 90 degree bends is pp. My favorite pipe material is pp since it seems more durable,
more flexible. the pvc seems to be more likely to shatter.
ive shot several hundred potatoes with my smaller cannons that are made from 110 mm chamber and 50 barrel,
and they are made of pp only.
never had any problems with too much pressure or pipes that have shattered or been damaged.
and the bigger the pipe parts get the thicker the wall of the plastic becomes.
the 200 mm pipe i use as the chamber of my biggest cannon is somewhere around 5-6 mm thick
and with several hoseclamps around the chamber and pipes im feeling pretty safe.
tho i try to use glasses and i always use ear protection. I just made (1 day ago)
a new cannon that is the medium size that has 160mm chamber and 75mm barrel and cant wait to test ut out with apples and maybe some cabbage heads :)

And i can also add that i use mainly hoseclamps to attach things to my cannon so i wont weaken the combustion chamber.
the only things that weaken it is the 2 screws for my spark thing inside and ive screwed the screws through on the oposite side of where i hold the cannon
so if it would blow a hole it would not be directed against me. everything i attach on my cannon is put on the oposite side of me.

Here is a picture of my newest cannon: nifty name ;D
