ok, ive picked up my parts for building my cloud which is being discussed in the bb/airsoft threads...

the plumbing supply store a block from my house gives me scrap pipe for cheap or free. so, with my bbmg materials, i got some more stuff, which i plan to make a simple combustion cannon from.

its an 18" long 1 1/2 inch ABS pipe with with threaded male adapter on the end and endcap.

if the combustion chamber is the same size as the barrel, can this result in me getting hurt? thanks

just want to know,

ps. i dont expect lots of range from it, but i would like at least 15 feet..

thanks again

-will

hm....

ill attempt to buy it. but i doubt ill be able to. if the people are knowledgeable enough, they will know what im doing with it.

lol i go into the plumbing store. immediately when i say "PVC" they say "kid u want a potato gun? we can build that for u!"

i reply no, im building an airsoft gun... and they have no clue what im talking about when i explain the design to them

but yea. i guess id try a sporting goods store near me for one. ive also heard of lantern sparkers. are they almost the same?

lanturn sparkers are kinda the same, they use a flint to light....its not as easy and i perfer the bbq.

so whats wrong with the plumbing store?? that is really cool how they know wht you're doing. but w/e, you should have no problem buying one. just dont be like "uhhh uhhh uhhh im looking forrrr the-he-he BbbbQ Lighterss??"

the plumbing store doesnt care at all, they give me parts to build cannons and stuff, they even give me a basic layout of which size fittings and pipe to get. so those guys are cool

but they dont sell bbq or lantern sparkers there. so i have to get them from somewhere else

i guess ill go bbq. the lantern sparker looks kinda.... eh. u kno.... to me its just.... eh

Does the hardware store have the piezo lighters used for lighting fires? They can usually be mod'd pretty easily into an igntion system. These are usually less than $5 each. Image

Of course, a piezo BBQ sparker works also but they a more expensive.

sadly no they dont, because its only plumbing supplies

ive modded those before, but the spark seems waaay to small to be consistent and a successful ignition system. at least from what ive experienced

ok ive bought my bbq grill igniter!!! =DDDDDD :)

now im wondering where the best place to put it is.

ive been thinking to just put the whole sparker unit alone in the cap on the back of my gun. and epoxy it in place, so i could have pre cut potatoes at the ready and breech load it. just push the potato in a little ways with fingers. apply fuel. and put the cap back on and shoot. is this a good idea??

im sure somebody knows a better way to this because im new. this is again, my first spud gun

thanks! =]

umm i wouldnt recommend putting the whole thing in and epoxying it in there. what i would do it put 2 screws into your pipe where 2 layers overlap. then connect the screws to your bbq. its much safer this way.

you can put the scerws anywhere in your chamber and it wouldnt make too much of a difference.

hm. ic

but this gun isnt normal. haha. the combustion chamber IS the barrel

its one piece of the same size with a threaded male adapter and endcap

so i guess just anywhere near the back ill put the screws, they wont blow out of the gun right?
