First recycled cannon (Tennis Ball Launcher)
Posted: Mon Jan 21, 2008 9:13 pm
Parts:
1 2 Liter bottle
2 Pringles cans
Cotton balls
Packaging Tape
I drilled a hole in the bottom of the pringles can just big enough to get a 2 liter connector (without a cap) to fit. After it was in, I screwed the cap on from the inside of the can to secure it. After removing the bottom of another can, I packaging taped the entire contraption together.
Using a 3/8" drill bit, I put a hole just big enough to fit a BIC lighter inside. Works like a charm.
Tennis balls are a little small, so I wrap one in cotton balls, then packaging tape the cotton balls on so it fits snugly.
While fireing, it stays in the air for maybe 5 seconds. Could be better for sure, but at least it's loud .
I used purple aquanet (sprayed into the lighter hole) as a propellant.
Pics:
(Ignore 3liter monster bottle & Candy )
/\ How not to fire (lots of recoil)
/\ Ignition Pic
This is not my first cannon, I have a few Pneumatics, and PVC combustion guns I'll be posting over the next few days.
