H2O2

I was thinking of using H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide for you dumbasses out there
). But, After looking at my disinfectant bottle of H2O2, and it is only 3% H2O2. Now, I know for a fact that it won't do crap. So I was thinking of either distilling it myself, or asking you guys if their is some that has 60% H2O2. After a date with wikipedia, I learned that conventional distillation is extremely dangerous, and vacuum distillation is complicated to set up. I also considered cold distillation, but my parents would wonder what the stuff was doing in the freezer. So, I just wanted to ask you guys if their was stuff available somewhere.

my first spudgun. It is a small 4in by 24 in chamber made of schedule 80 pvc. Their is a 1in barrel 4 feet long. I want the stuff to get some umf. Plus i know the stuff is a good oxidizer so i could up the strength of some alcohol or something.

If I recall correctly you can just mix H2O2 with magnesium dioxide to produce pure oxygen. Magnesium dioxide can be found in most batteries by the way.

Wow... 60% H2O2. The first thing that is obvious to me is that you have no intention of using this for a spudgun, and the second is that, with your obvious lack of understanding of energetic materials, you're going to blow your brains out regardless of which of the two things you may be planning to do with it that you actually attempt.
You can order 50% hydrogen peroxide in the States, although anywhere else you're going to run into trouble with import regulations (deceitful packaging methods can avert this problem, but create a whole new set of possible and hopefully obvious problems). Couldn't you just blow yourself up with illegal fireworks instead and save the chemical companies the lawsuits?

exactly what I was thinking.... Deffinatley not for a spudgun especially since your parents won't even let you build a spray and pray. Don't lie to us... We're much smarter than you give us credit for.

go to instructables.com and look how to salt of the hydrogen peroxide it makes it like 50 -90 percent

Yeah most of us know what H2O2 is. My question is, why are you proposing to go to the trouble of extracting O2 from peroxide when you have gracious plenty of O2 directly in the air we freely breathe?
Hydrogen Peroxide has absolutely no practical use in spudgun operation. If you really need pure O2, why not just use it from a red Bernzomatic canister of it?

A PVC-based spudgun running high purity peroxide? Hey, should be fun given that the PVC will likely spontaneously combust when it comes into contact with the peroxide.

Magnum, I don't want to come off as harsh, but maybe this just isn't the hobby for you.
Really, you have been here for quite some time and you still don't show any sign of common sense.

.
No it isn't, I do it almost every day at work
all you need for the vacuum really is running water.

I was going to say you were insane, but I realized that I don't know what you intend to use it for
Just be very careful. RESEARCH THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! I can't really see how it would be useful for spudding applications, though.

okay... first buy a video camera and film anything you do...
to find high % h2o2 go to a salon, they use it to bleach hair without destroying it... you can get it up to 80%.... I used to have blue hair until i had to meet my g/f's dad(she's now my wife...) be warned, handling it undiluted(knowing you have no reason to dilute it) will burn most organic substances, i.e. skin in particular, surprisingly it wont burn hair or fingernails... it will turn them milk white though... :happy9: :happy9: :happy9:

All I can say is: don't
I'm not even going to say why, just google for 15 minutes on it and you'll see without expensive lab stuff you can't store any H2O2 (aprox. 30% or higher) because it wil decompose when it comes in contact with air, water, and even sunlight (UV).
You know the Russian nuclear submarine(kursk or something like that) blew itself to pieces because of a leaking H2O2 tank in a torpedo.
I've got a new motto for you: try and die
(better don't)
