All of them? Anything combustable lol.
Hairspray
Right Guard
Starter fluid
Butane
Propane
Cologne
MAPP gas
That's a small list. I'd stay away from hair spray because it leaves a gunk on your chamber. Anyways, any plans of building or past builds?

This information is everywhere, and here at Spudfiles we don't like to "spoon feed people". If you do a little research you will find your answers. There are too many to list all of them, but here are a few : hairspray, insect repellent, butane, propane, mapp gas, etc. Welcome to Spudfiles!
I use the one TRUE fuel, steeped in tradition passed down by our spudgunning fore fathers, fermented boar feces. Note I said boar specifically. Pig poop is just too weak to really launch a potato. Also steer clear of hog and other types of swine as most often they prove to be too powerful and can result in serious injury.
Radiation, you wouldn't happen to be familiar with a place called Bartertown, would you? There's a guy there called Master Blaster...well, more of a really smart dwarf strapped to the back of a very large kinda dim guy. I think they pioneered your preferred fuel, they might have some new insights for you...Radiation wrote:I use the one TRUE fuel, steeped in tradition passed down by our spudgunning fore fathers, fermented boar feces. Here is a fairly definitive and humorous look at possible propellants...

I'm partial to the Hydrogen Fused with initial Uranium-235 Fission and Half Banana, Half Kerosene Solution...

On a slightly more serious note, there is a massive amount of propellants you could use, but some are a little more..practical..
Butane (includes many deoderants/colognes/hairsprays etc..)
Propane
Isobutane (often a secondary ingredient to butane for propellants)
Ether
Naptha (lighter fluid-but not butane)- haven't tried this one
Hydrogen - You need to use electrolysis to get this (or go to a fuel browser if your in the right spot). Electrolysis will also release oxygen in the perfect concentration to ignite with hydrogen, so just purge the chamber with it. Will also burn in large ranges/concentrations. YOU NEED A VERY SHOCK RESISTANT CHAMBER FOR 2H2/O2!
Acetone, shellite, turps, thinners, etc: Need to be atomized (think spray mister), then fired before use to prevent condensation. Be careful, as these may damage your container. (and you!)
Acetylene - Unless you know what you're doing, don't screw with this. Acetylene burns extremely quickly, basically only beaten by hydrogen, releases a massive amount of energy (weak bonds between carbon/hydrogen, strong bonds in CO2), is extremely unstable, forms highly explosive compounds with many metals (especially copper), can ignite if stored above 20 psi, must be dissolved in acetone, is poison and an asphyxiant..the list goes on. Remember if you also use oxygen (as per an oxy-acetylene torch) these effects increase five fold. It also has the largest tolerances of any gas (iirc), even higher than hydrogens 5%-75%.
Oxygen - not a fuel, but will make any deflagration 5 times as violent..
Dichloroflouromethane (or dcfm)- The gas used in air dusters, apparently burns very well. Don't get it on your skin.
Various engine starters, lubricants (eg. RP7, WD40, Freeze n release etc..): Beware of getting freeze and release stuff on your hands or chamber, I'm sure it has the potential to do damage..
Most hydrocarbons will work, but several wont be very energetic (eg methane).
Liquid fuels (petrol, kerosene, rc model fuel) need to be atomised (spray bottle) but will work well and burn cleanly.
Solid fuels aren't supposed to be discussed here, so I'll avoid that. There is also of course aluminum, if you can run enough current through it to turn it into plasma.
Edit: forgot, you can use alcohols (ethanol) if they are misted fine enough..

Ether isn't too powerful for a SCH-40 potato cannon? I had thought about using it as a combustion source, but was afraid that I would blow myself up by using itjmeyer1022 wrote:All of them? Anything combustable lol.

Nope, it works best with a larger gun. It tends to flood smaller ones due to it's potency. It will leave a lot of soot in your chamber though.
