In this recent ad from google for chrome, google compare's chome's speed to a variety of things, one being a combustion spudgun. The high speed footage very clearly shows to deflagration of the fuel in the chamber, and the acceleration of the potato. It's some cool stuff.
Spudgun Footage begins at 15 seconds.

All that money and they only did a few seconds with the spudgun :[
To see the turbulence of a fan affecting the almost water like flow of the flame front would have been interesting too.

Of course much of the delay we mere mortals see in webpage loading has to do more with your connection speed to the internet, DNS translation, and the webpage server connection speed. A loaded browser, of any make, with the obscene amounts of cpu cycles we have in user computers today is literally idling, awaiting packets to arrive from the internet.
Google, with their massive pipes to the internet effectively negate the connection speed to the internet issue.
All that said, cute and effective ad by Google.

I wonder if Google will be disappointed if I took my in barrel launch graphs and graphed them against my ping times to Google. I could show a launch prior to the return of the DNS lookup. Launches in under 20ms are measured.

I like how the spuds fell right into a fryer. That was great.
