First, I'm sorry for being a total noob. This has probably been answered a few times before, but I can't find the thread, so i'm posting my own:

The little black ignition boxes:

What are they? I noticed they wire the chamber fan and the ignition together. Is it just a battery box with an igniter in the middle?

and where might I find one of these?

They are generally customised plastic boxes containing any electronics and switches needed to fire the cannon.

It could be just a piezo igniter in there but it could also be a stungun circuit with firing, safety and on/off switch.

Project boxes from electronics places like radioshack might be a good place to start but any sturdy container could do. Metal is ok as long as you've got everything insulated.

Those are not project boxes in the pics.
Both are battery igniters, that one takes AA bat.
The button unscrews to get at bat.
Top pic is 4 post, the user is only using 3 posts with one common ground.
It costs approx. 30 $
I've got one on my bench. www.ApplianceFactoryParts.com has them.
I used one a little different on a gun.
The one in the pic is easier to use because of the 4 posts= 2 pos 2 neg
People that can't get stun circuits make do with them .They are MUCH
better than pezios !

Do the battery ones work well. Do they wear out like normal piezo ignitors? What about the rotary ones seen here? http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/ga ... _ign1.html

And if you hold the button, they click a few times per second. Auto combustion anyone?

We've been over this topic before, we don't need to discuss it again.
