Hybrid golf ball barrel question

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

I have been running some numbers on HGDT before I build the chamber for my new project. I would like the gun to fire golf balls at 4x and be hand held. At 4x for my theoretical chamber size HGDT is showing 102.6 psi max barrel pressure wich is inside the rating of the sdr 21 and sch 80 I have on hand. Has anyone used PVC barrels on a metal hybrid with good results?

D_Hall posted a thread with a suitable GB barrel a little while ago. Look up schedule 10 aluminum or SS pipe on McMaster. Its ID is 1.682, making it perfect for a GB. He planned on sleeving the first few inches of Sch 10 pipe with threaded Sch 80 and welding them together.

I have read that thread and may go that rout, but I am trying to keep costs and weight down. This is not going to be some monster hybrid. I am trying do get similar performance as my 9ft long advanced combustion from a smaller package. At the moment theoretical chamber volume is only about 38 cubic inches.

Combustion also if you even take a look at fear he used a 2" sch. 40 PVC barrel on his that was 50 ft. long. So I can't see why sleeved sdr-21 won't work.

With only 102 psi max barrel pressure, you can probably get away with PVC. Looking at Killjoy's FEAR thread, I saw that he used 2" Sch 40 PVC for a barrel, although I'm unsure at what mix.

Edit: Trigun beat me

I somehow never noticed that on Fear. Sleaved sdr-21 it is then. That makes me happy because I think I have all the fittings kicking around!

one more tip if you can find the pipe, on my hybrid i used 50mm (almost exactly 2") hydraulic high grade steel pipe as barrel, it has a ID that is so perfect for golfballs that it is almost scary.

Any good source for that type of pipe aside from McMaster?
