NICE
so, fuelling is not an issue? Any idea where can I get BBC piezos (yeah I know that're using one from a lighter - I am asking about BBC piezos) ?
Sorry for going off topic, but does anyone know if it is possible to hack one of these to work on DC...
(these modules are used on gas ovens for creating a spark... That fact, and the fact that there are letters 'L' (for line I suppose) and 'N' (neutral) suggests that they run on AC... But why there '+' and '-' signs there ?? It's a bit confusing...) ->

EDIT
No... that particular model runs on AC....
But there are versions that run on DC and they are produced about 100 km from where I live!
Looky here

What do you think is it a good find ?

Any idea what's inside the unit you posted?

Aren't BBQ ignitors just like cigarette lighter ignitors if you take them apart?POLAND_SPUD wrote:ohh yeah it's BBQ sorry

If performance is worthwhile, I want to finish it off with a proper grip and suppressor. So far it's borderline, I want to keep upping x until it no longer ignites reliably and go from there.MrCrowley wrote:So is this cannon just a prototype?
For the moment, I want to push the limits of what is achievable without having access to stunguns and a lathe, although I have to say, I certainly seem to have been bitten by the hybrid bug I still have that cartridge fed project I want to finish! You should find a better ignition, machine the chamber out of steel and up the mix!

How does this thing go for noise? Deafening, or merely irritating?
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

When the end plug blows out, deafening otherwise, loud but not *that* loud really, comparable to a HPA pneumatic with a good valve. You definitely know it's gone off but I had no problems testing it in an urban area with open windows. Firing without a projectile is significantly louder, but again not excessively so.Insomniac wrote:How does this thing go for noise? Deafening, or merely irritating?
This afternoon I'll try 10x, 11x etc until it stops working, I also want to try some saboted 0.177" BBs to see how they perform against that pesky steel sheet...

AFAIK they are larger and last longerAren't BBQ ignitors just like cigarette lighter ignitors if you take them apart?
No idea but it's a ready made module and depending on the exact model it can be used for up to 6 spark gapsAny idea what's inside the unit you posted?
I got the reply from the manufacturer and I can get one for 6.5$ a piece - seems pretty cheap. These things are definitely considered as heavy duty stuff when compared with all those BBQ ignitiors produced in china.
I hope it will work better than all the silencers for pneumaticssuppressor

Interesting, in terms of mix numbers currently ignition is the only limiting factor I can see. I tried looking for something similar on eBay but to no avail. Maybe I should just go for a camera flash circuit...
Since heat is such a big factor when it comes to pressure generation in hybrids, I have high hopes for such a project. I'm thinking copper tube body with a couple of baffles and steel wool packing, once I'm tired of playing with mixes I'll give it a go.I hope it will work better than all the silencers for pneumatics

Surely you mean "saboting"JDP12 wrote:How do you plan on sabotaging the .177" BB?
I was thinking of using this method using metal foil instead of paper, if it works well I'll make a proper how-to.
edit: This project persists in being made of WIN! some further results:
-saboted 0.177" steel BB (see pictures for foil sabot construction) - full penetration of a sheet of 0.6mm steel, denting a second sheet
-10 mix with lead pellet - first click ignition and full penetration of a sheet of 0.6mm steel
The question now is, do I quit while I'm winning, or go for 11x?

Nice!!!!!! You should really increase your barrel length, some impressive results may show up
