:D :D

But given the preparation it takes, I will do more shooting on the same day!
Besides, I have regretted not having had two missiles ...
and I will have to buy another aquarium!

I has tungsten!

Roughly 3mm by 20mm, average weight of 1.52567g grams according to the laboratory balance... expect some miniature APFSDS shortly ;)

Great!
you got your order!
1.5g is light compared to my rod 20g!
diameter is a bit like concrete nails ...

Need to try a APFSDS! :D
Delrin with a sabot?

Well they're much smaller, by expect some good results at high velocity :)

Not sure if I will make plain brass or delrin fins, or a whole brass body with a tungsten core like I did for your last projectile.
These are more expensive than the ones you bought though no?

... but tungsten carbide is better! In armour piercing ammunition this is the alloy they use ;)

:?: :?:

I thought that tungsten was more appropriate because it breaks not as carbide!
the rod would remain whole and could penetrate further into the target ...

Not really, even in a relatively pure form it is still brittle and prone to shatter on impact.

The results you have happen with real world armour piercing cores too as in the images below showing a 25mm APDS projectile. The difference is that they are usually travelling in the 2000 - 4000 fps range, so it has a lot more energy that allows the fragments to punch through thicker plates.

ok!
I stay with the carbide then! and it's cheaper ...
I still have five rods of tungsten

Disk brake I shoot with:

concrete nail
Delrin wing-tungsten +
-point bow with aluminum skirt

No lead bullets!
:D

Note, a lead bullet with a concrete nail in the center ...

Looking forward to those :D I think the high speed camera should be looking down the barrel, that's where the guaranteed action is ;)

Here's one of the sinkers compared to a 6mm airsoft BB, quite tiny but it should give some interesting results:

This one, probably with a sabot in a 1/2" barrel.
