P. 3 Stacked tube

This is my older airsoft bb gun (it works with 6 mm platic balls; 0.12g). In this design I was working with the stacked tube working as I wanted to make a semiauto gun; based on most spyder paintballs guns. The whole gun is made from scap (everything homemade) from the valve to the soldering of the piping. Further, the gun shoots above 100 m/s (around 360fps). I tested this using a mp3 player and a measured out range for a target. When one shoots you can hear two loud parts(when the gun shoots and when the ball hits). Using audicity you can c how many miliseconds is between the two. By subtracting 340/range from the time that u got you get the exact time (bc the speed of sounds goes at 340m/s and affects your recording). So average speed= distance/time taken. Like this I made an easy and cheap chronograph. The gun runs on compressed air at around 5 bars. As can be seen it is stored in a coke bottle. This way you can shoot about 30-40 times on a 1.5L bottle (0.4 gallon). The guns speed can be regulated'' by the spring which drives the hammer into the valve. The gun can be loaded at the top but I still have to make a magazine. Everytime the gun is shot the barrel slides forward due to friction of the ball and air on the inside of the barrel and thus opens the breech and allows for reloading. Once the gun is recocked (as seen in the picture) the breech closes again due to a pin which connects the barrel and the hammer setup.

Great stuff there especially with improvised materials :D

I've gone through the internal layout and it looks like the hammer hits the poppet valve... but I can't see what stops the hammer from keeping the valve open and draining the chamber in one shot.

Is the air blast strong enough to recock the mechanism?

The valve spring behind the popet valve makes sure the valve closes again. Plz check the youtube link inorder to see the working of the gun.

It makes a pretty nice *chunk* when fired even without air :)

make it a higher pressure and it would be better.




ps sorry but clouds and vortex guns still are better(higher rate of fire).

dude that is cool 8) and pretty ghetto 8) you should make a high pressure one as your next project because it has the potential to become a beasty gun (you could make a semi-auto pellet gun? if you used higher pressure?)

Higher rate of fire but highly ineffecient and inaccurate. This gun has a coke bottle used a pressure vessel. So it can be used for plinging games. Clouds use big inpracticle pressure tanks.

it reminds me of a German Ruger from WWII, very complex and sophisticated internals, nice bb gun,looks like a lot of fun

A high rate of fire means a lot of waste of ammo, I'd rather have 1 round per second at 4 foot pounds than 4 rounds per second at 1 foot pound. Clouds and Vortex guns have a pathetic individual projectile energy, usually less than 1 ft/lbs, it's only their exagerated rate of fire that makes them seem powerful, the so-called "jackhammer effect".

Great design ant, of course the concept is nothing new but to see that you've managed to make it work using only basic tools and materials is very impressive, congrats.

Hey thnx allot for backin me up here! I never liked the idea of clouds. They waste so much air and ammo. Yeah I know my design isnt really new. But I never saw someone make something like it here on this forum. I like ur blowforward design as well. I have tried using it on my stacked stube design but it keeps jamming. And as I used plastic balls I cant keep ehm in place with a magnet. But my new post has a trigger that falls into the barrel so that the balls dont roll out. This is better but I know it will cause a problem once I go automatic. Cheers

What you can do to stop the balls from rolling out is to cut a groove in the barrel and but an o-ring around it.

Ah thnx allot. I should try that sometime. Maybe I can even create backspin on the ball for farther flight!
