Airsoft Ammo Size

Hmm... although I don't have airsoft here in Aussie I thought of something that the new generation of airsofting could have which are the ammo sizes for specific guns. ie...
Pistol / SMGs = 6mm
Auto Rifles = 8mm
Sniper Rifles = 10mm
Thought this might add to the realism and pain, i'm aware that they do have 8mm but their not very common, but it would be cooler.
There's suppose to be some argument about the size of the bb, which travels further, but we all know which hits harder...
Any opinions?

it depends on the speed and weight of the BB so if they were;
all the same wieght and speed - 6mm would hit harder (smaller so less drag)
10mm heaviest, 6mm lightest, same speeds - 10mm of course
its a cool idea, but surely snipers would want some kinf of new shaped 'super BB' to give them extram range?

Less drag would olny let it go farther not hit harder concidering they would all have the same mass and were shot at the same volocity.
I think that the pistols and smg's should be 8mm because of the 9mm pistol auto rifles should be 6mm concidering that the M16 and other rifles are 5.56mm and the snipers should be 7mm and use heavier bb's to keep it's trajectory as strait as possible. Just my thoughts.

Actually i didn't think of the reverse way lol. When I was doing my research on this matter i found out that 6mm's still project further with hop up. Although it's only natural that the bigger volume (not density), that it would be heavier than the small volume.
Many graphs on this matter, Here]

I think price is main factor here. A miniball type airsoft pellet would be extremely expensive, considering the price of density, the process to make the pellet, as well as shear demand. Plus, how can a mag hold an elongated bullet? unless it was purpose built to do so, it won't likely happen. Maybe airsoft pellets could be made of light weight allumium, or a similar metal. It will maintain smaller bullets as the density is higher so the bullet doesn't HAVE to be larger, plus, easier to make spitzer type ammunition for airsoft.

If you're concerned about price, why would you suggest aluminum pellets/bb's?

Good question Kash munni I bet you stumped him. BTW it was mentioned that those supper bb's would be used in sniper rifles not somthing like a AEG so the bolt action would be quite useful in loading fireing.

I'm not worried about price, I would be all to willing to buy such reliable ammo. Compnaies who make the ammo would have to invest in getting new materials, a machine to make conical bullets, build guns to fit the new ammo size. Their would be a lot of crap to go through to make reliable conical airsoft pellets.
