So I want to build the Best airsoft gun ever, but.....

I would love to make a Airsoft rifle. However I don't have a shop. Or really any tools, beyond a small drill. My skills are limited, and being 17... I haz no monez.(I wa to keep costs down, but I can afford what is necessary.) What I do have in good supply is ambition, and at least 10 hours of reasearch on BBMG design. At this point in my project, I wish to speak to the Experts. That would be you. So I have made an account and plan to bounce ideas off of you, and when I have earned my Eagle rank in scouting, I want to start. Here is the plan so far. If it is on these forums, or the Internet.... I have likely read it.

The attached photo shows a vortexblock, Reloadable clip, BBMG. I may lose the Vortex in favor of a cloud design, as I do not own a large drill.
The clip will use a guided spring piston. This will press the BBs into suction block. The clip will be airtight enough to hold, but a safety pin will be worthwhile. I like my hands. The clip will be a clear tube, and may have a light source for show and tell purposes. This will make the gun look cool.

I actually only want the gun to instantly release BBs, which seems to be a issue on some guns. I would take a lower RPS for higher accuracy. I may add a Hopup for this purpose. I understand these don't last long, but I only shoot in bursts, and can replace it every month or so.

If I make the blow hole in the bottom point into the barrel, will BBs still be sucked in, without the full circle?

What are the main differences between Vortex and Cloud models performance wise? I can't get a good answer.

I want to use CO2 cartridges for this, but I am looking into a Ryobi battery powered inflator hooked up to a tank. It can get me up to 150 PSI which seems to be the safe limit for Rated PVC anyway. How can I instead use A CO2 system? Preferably, this will use a Bike tire inflator.

Have I done my research? How can I make this with so few tools...... Thanks.

You're on the right track!
What are the main differences between Vortex and Cloud models performance wise?
The block feeds the BB's smoother with less jamming.

Welcome to Spudfiles. :D

As you would like to use a tyre inflator..I basically made my own out of a HP-washer handle and a 12 gram adapter.

The launcher I made here had an absolute minimum of parts , wich saves money,
but it's quite easy to keep the barrel longer.
I used bondo to shape the outside.

Intresting.

If I directly use a tire inflator with a 12 G CO2 cartridge, could I get through say.... 30 s of firing? Even 15?
That is given a proper design.

Also, what is the easiest. ... or at least best for what I have. ... material to make a Vortex Block out of?

2 to 3 seconds from a 12 gram.
So 16gram bulbs....maybe 4 seconds.
Power on the other hand will be....scary....

Sounds like it won't work out safely. Is there any way to get a controlled release with less power? Like.... can I hack a regulator into it? Or if I had a proper system but the inlet in the chamber was really tiny... I may have to stray away from CO2. I want this to be 350 FPS, though I could work with up to 400, and it must last at least a clip of ammo for CO2 to work. Perhaps I should make a separate direct feed pistol.

If I do go with compressed air.... how can I set up a fully reloadable system? say.... a tank so that I can fire silent reliably for 5 seconds (What can I buy or make?)
And then a portable air supply. With a bigger tank, a bike pump would suffice, but I would like to upgrade to a Battery operated Ryobi Air Inflator after that. They get up to 150 psi, which should be fine.

As a complete side note how long until I can post without the restriction of it not being seen until a mod reviews it. I don't mind it, but it would be nice to know.

Thanks for the help so far.

Might I suggest a reducer?

and it must last at least a clip of ammo for CO2 to work.

:D

It'll fire around 100 bb's in those 2 seconds....provided the bb reservoir holds that much.
A cloud or vortex bbmg is an open system.

I used metal for the body and barrel...as CO2 is escaping continously, along with the bb's pressure will always be quite a bit lower than that of liquid stored CO2.Plus; the tempreature drops dramatically as the liquid turns to gas, wich also drops the pressure.

Just make sure to use all metal pipe and fittings and make sure bb's will not jam the barrel shut.

If you would use a bigger bb reservoir than I did in my quest for compactness and power...firing pressure will also drop.

I got a plan to increase efficiency, via a ball valve detent. It will hurt looks but I could shoot with high gas efficiency, and better FPS. It won't look so nice but I can make it work.

I think a new model will be in order at some point. Also, I don't know if I can work with metal. I don't have the tools.

Now you know what to ask for at Christmas, birthdays so on so forth... :bigsmurf:

Right.

Hmmm. Say what would I need to be able to more or less do anything? There is not much room in my house, and money is tightish....

Good Drill?
Clamp?
Work Table?
Saw?

Yup and drill bits, few saw blades, rags, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, tool box etc...

Ditch the drill and get a drill press.

SO many things one can do with a drill press that cant be done with a drill.

I wish i would have bought mine years ago when i first started spudding. Woulda made a lot more guns and kept my wallet thicker and my scrap parts box lighter.

I've sorta moved away from air into other propellants. A bit more smokey and traditional.
