That's actually even cooler than your monster, if possible...I smell new project coming on.

This gun had a SLOW leak. It bothered me so I did what any rational spudder would do. I coated the whole thing with about 1/8 inch of solid epoxy. I did my best to make it still purty, sanding it well and painting it "hammered copper" with krylon. It looks more like a small turd now . I miss the sweet bronze look, but at least it is now 100% leak free. I also did some high power (400 psi) testing.
All the updates were also posted on the original post...
The new look:
The DAMAGE:
nail dart stuck 1/4 inch into my drywall
And the video of me shooting the beer can

Thats some pretty nice damage there. Are the nail darts stable in flight?
You should repaint it matte black or somthing... right now it's a bit ugly.
Hmmm... looking at how it used to look, the first thing that popped into my head was 'spent rifle cartrige'... perhaps it would be possible to make another one that looks even more like one? The barrel would be where the primer usually is.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Yeah, right now its a lot ugly.
The nail darts are not stable at all. these shots were are very close range. Like less than a foot close range. Still, I was impressed with the damage a 1 inch barrel could do. The power of brute force (high pressure)

High pressure is always good. Btw re-read my previous post, I edited it a bit.

Haha... Why not take it a step further and actually use a spent bullet casing? Perhaps sometime soon. Love the idea.Btw re-read my previous post, I edited it a bit.
And Gippeto... you're crazy man. I like ya, but your crazy man. This thing has more epoxy than some of my full size cannons. And I use epoxy on all of them.

Please excuse my noobish question. How are these little pneumatics fired? I understand how they are charged but not how the piston is released.

The shrader acts as a in/out valve when you fill the gun the shrader cracks open so the air will fill the gun but closes holding in the pressure. When you push in the little silver rod in the shrader the air is let out piloting the piston.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that may be how it was operated but didn't want to try to build one until i knew for sure.Sticky_Tape wrote:The shrader acts as a in/out valve when you fill the gun the shrader cracks open so the air will fill the gun but closes holding in the pressure. It has been said, but I strongly agree
For the love of god, paint it! but now that it is airtight, don't go carrying it loaded especially if you keep your keys in your front pocket... hope you have as many kids as you want

Wow I LOVE THIS. Ultimate keychain gadget if you ask me
I NEED to build one soon.
You should make a cap to put on the front or plug for in the barrel so you can carry it around loaded while still being safe.

Hmm, spent shell casing would be a little harder than you might think, unless you turn things around and have the barrel firing out through the primer. That would make things alot easier, as you could make a schrader/piston assembly and epoxy it into the neck of the cartridge.
It looks like you'd have to use something just slight larger than a .30 cal(7.62mm). Maybe an 8mm Mauser cartridge. It's also pretty much have to be a rifle casing.
