Depends on work, errands... I could manage a couple of hours a day, the issue is getting started - once you do it's very easy to lose yourself in the machining, but again, it's all in the planning.
There's only one thing left to do with the pen guns at this point, make em better.
I don't think this coaxial type of pengun is going to get any better - you're limited to a small calibre, even if you up the pressure it will still be a "pea shooter".

A major improvement would be going "valveless" - bigger bore, zero "opening time", full flow.

edit: even better, imagine a "valveless" full auto integrally suppressed pengun :D

Up the calibre to 3/8" and you get some serious muzzle energy for a pen sized package at 850 psi, legally a firearm in the UK :D

The difficulty is getting that seal in place...

And how would you charge it if you have to have that cap on to hold the ball in place?

The cap seems to be in two parts... the brass one holds the ball while the aluminum one is just an extension.

Nice designs

The steadiness of hand, the acuity of vision and finally
the art of knowing how to make the rifle an extension of the
body all equate to the ultimate synthesis of man and machine.”

Of course this would be best a simple single shot launcher for a cartridge...

Cartridge pengun :D
I love the full auto one but I doubt you'd get more than 3 shots off. Still... Full auto pengun, cartridge pengun, valveless pengun, oh the things JSR can build with Sherline :)

Well spotted :)

A slightly modified cartridge version, with a removable rear cap. This would allow either the skirt of a diablo pellet type projectile to be flared against the walls to provide an effective seal, or a silicone sleeve to be inserted that would seal a hard projectile like a steel ball.

Jsr is there any way you can think of making the detent out of an oring rather than ball bearings, because that would eliminate the need for another seal. The only problem is I can't think of a way to hold it in.

Use a thick o-ring and recess it far into the walls?

Problem: Upon firing, those ball bearings are just going to fall out of their goove and be blown out the barrel with the projectile...
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

I've been thinking about that for a while, it's not an easy proposition. Here's one way I had though up but it's too complex for my liking.
