I'm made a similar launcher to the one in the original thread, only beefed up for HPA and with a rubber seal to enable airsoft BBs to be fired.
It doesn't seal perfectly, clearly an asymmetric locking of the projectile is not ideal - still managed to make some BB pancakes though no penetration but that's 1mm steel and I'm "only" using 450 psi:

No idea how fast they were going though, BOTH my friggin' chronys' batteries have run down!

something tells me that a QC gun is coming soon
Is it a single shot gun or do you plan to turn it into a semiauto/fullauto gun ? actually that isn't such a bad idea... you just need a similar locking mechanism behind the BB... so that it will block the nest round when the release mechanism opens

OMFG I can't believe I didn't think of that!!!!!!POLAND_SPUD wrote:Is it a single shot gun or do you plan to turn it into a semiauto/fullauto gun?
I poured a bunch of BBs into the chamber, set the detent to barely let a BB pass and instant airsoft cloud BBMG, not BRAAAAP! but DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA and instant feed every time!!!!!
Apologies for the crap lighting, it's dark now but I think you can see why I'm grinning like a fuçking idiot right now

And here it is in real time, note the ridiculous amounts of shattered BB spilling out of the tin

POLAND_SPUD consulting Inc. - providing expertise in spudgunning since 2007OMFG I can't believe I didn't think of that!!!!!!
well I suggested this when I noticed that mine worked so well...
back then I was literally
uhmm I mean before I got totally frustrated after spending so many hours tweaking the design to achieve reliability... with no successgrinning like a fuçking idiot
but yours seems pretty reliable... have you tried adjusting the flow and/or the detent to bring ROF down ?? I think it is possible... well at least it worked pretty well on mine

PotatoFlinger, I highly doubt that a lead projectile would scrape a steel barrel.
Even look at regular pellet guns, they do the same thing, inflate the skirt to make a perfect seal.

... but now that it's up, this is a better idea for a retainer/trigger than the original project.

... though for a 3/8" ball bearing, the diameter would have to be at least 16mm, so not really convincing as a "pen"... so perhaps in 0.22".

Rifling seems a bit pointless on a device than cannot really be aimed, besides diablo shaped pellets are more than stable fired from a smoothbore barrel.pneumaticcannons wrote:Omg jsr thats intense... i say go for the 0.22 maybe even rifling?
In the works, but I'm distracted by work and making knives pretty at the momenthey! what happened to your hybrid pen gun
