Version 2 of my pneumatic ballistic knife using the same concept but with more attention to detail and most impressive of all, a fantastic dagger blade crafted by jakethebeast which really sets it off.
There's room for refinement in the "tail" and I would like to make the collar bigger diameter to make it easier to trigger, but as I've got it to firing stage, here it is:
... and of course, a video in action at 350 psi:

Nice. I saw the video right after you uploaded, and then knew that you would be posting the completed product soon! It looks excellent. Whats the operating pressure?

i like it... no no that's very sexy
looks great, Id throw some grooves or knurling on the collar and maybe a tail cap to protect the shrader. Does it hold pressure for extended periods? Awesome job

jsr,
The idea of a ballistic knife never did anything for me. I wouldn't even view threads about them. However, after seeing this post and your youtube vid, I'm now an instant convert. Beautiful design and workmanship! All praise to you and jake.

Is the sleeve held on by any means?
I'm thinking a slot in the knife body with a grub screw in the sleeve to limit movement would work in that respect.

Most of the credit goes to youjakethebeast wrote:nice, i like my blade on that this looks very nice, im happy that i got to be part of it
Thanks for all the kind words guys.
I'm happy to take it to 800 in terms of construction, the problem is collar stiffness, as it is at 350 you can barely push it with your thumb. It definitely needs a wider diameter collar for easier firing, unfortunately the brass of the appropriate diameter I had set aside was all used to make jake's valveHow high will you dare go pressure wise?
Both on my "to do" listId throw some grooves or knurling on the collar and maybe a tail cap to protect the shrader.
Yes, a stop of some sort is also planned, there are some unaired "fail" videos where I push the collar too far and the balls shoot out in all directions like some miniature schrapnellmineI'm thinking a slot in the knife body with a grub screw in the sleeve to limit movement would work in that respect.

JSR, i made that sheath for just to protect the blade in shipping, if i would know that you would actually use it, i would have made it much more better looking

I'm not really "using" it in the sense that I won't be carrying this thing around, but it's useful to protect the blade and very smart so happy with it
If these weren't of dubious legal status in most places I'd be selling them!wyz2285 wrote:not a knife guy but I would buy that
