My first mini

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

I just wanted to comment on my first mini experience. I built a pen sized device out of tent pole Easton aluminum tubing. It is coaxial with a .5" OD chamber and a 27 caliber barrel. At first it had an aluminum piston with a rubber face, but the rubber was too soft. I then rebuilt it with a solid Teflon piston. It now works great at 300-400 psi from a bike shock pump. The fill valve and trigger is a Presta valve. For filling I use a Presta to Schrader adapter.

The parts were turned down on my lathe and assembled with epoxy.

I plan to make one that is more pen like maybe even with a working pen and also one that is longer and more weapon like. I plan to experiment with co2 charging using a bike tire co2 inflater as well.

Damage photos... Steel bean can entry and exit. Projectile was a 0.5" section of 0.25" stainless rod.

BTW: I am making it more streamlined and adding an actual pen cartridge and point that can be removed when using the gun. Also I made the breech end fit a sharpy cap. All in all it has been a fun project and a good way to get used to my lathe.

It is coaxial. The tube you see is the air chamber. The smaller diameter and barrel is inside it.

If you look at http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/piston- ... t8157.html it is like the coaxial one except the fill valve and exhaust valve are the same valve.

why use too much lathe works when you can make some simple stuffs to have fun? :?

My First Mini was something like this ...
almost any kind of ammo was used
I used pomegranate pulp because that had an impact like paint balls
small stones, chewed paper, aluminium foil etc.
put the projectile inside ,stretch the balloon and *pop*

but yes it didn't have the power to Pierce metal cans :3

Nothing wrong with simple, but for some of us the lathe work is a big part of the fun.
