I have recently attempted to use the typical Rain Bird Valve in my pneumatic cannon and use the solenoid to control flow. I can get the solenoid to open but I do not think it opens enough for the air to flow through fast enough. Has anyone had any similar problems or know what the heck is going on?!

first check the flow adjustment thingy
second, using a solenoid does not give good results, i suggest modifing it to be pneumatically triggered
third, whats the size of your gun and whats the pressure you are using at?

My Chamber is 1.5"x13" and I am using about 40psi through a 3/4" Rain Bird Valve out to a 3/4" barrell about 18" long.

Even if I leave the solonoid open the entire time it seem like the vavle hesitates and does not release quickly enough.

Is it over and under ("U" shaped) or inline? If over/under, be sure the flow control is open all the way. For both types, try shooting it manually twisting the solenoid), you get much more power than electronic. Try taking it to a higher PSI. And you said it shot slow with the solenoid open, what exactly do you mean, if you fill it witht he solenoid open then air will just go out the barrel.

It is an inline valve. I have shot it at 45 psi and it still has the same problem. I just dont know whats going on man!
