I'm speaking behalf of my good mate. All of you know him as RNA Duelers. This is a warning to every country to that has spudguns of any shape and form, banned and illegal.
RNA's mate just got caught by the police with a simple golf ball gun. His mate is now up for up to 10 years in prison. I just lathed a o-ringed aluminium piston for my 600psi gun and after I found out, calling it quits is the best idea. Tomorrow I'm giving away every fitting I have. My mate is a plumber so I'm sure he can use the fittings. It's just not worth ruining my life. Time to take up a new hobby...

I think it really depends on the context in which he was caught. There's a difference between firing golfballs into and empty desert and firing them at your neighbours car, do you know more of the situation?

JSR The cops tried to put me in juvy for having them. I only got off for acting like I didnt know and saying it was for a school project. Im kinda on the down low so I go out into the bush on a private property to shoot mine.

I think thats just a bunch of CRAP!!! For a air gun! Its not like he or we as a comunity are killing or hurting anybody or animals. Making criminals out of young people with a fun pass time. Baseball bats can inflect just as much dammage as a spudgun, but bats are not banned. :angry4: :brave:
Agreed, to an extent. But the guy knew what he was getting in to when he started the hobby. He knew they were illegal when he built one. It's sort of like driving a car and speeding. i can't stand the cops anymore! to say it out right i HATE them!
that makes me want to call them and tell i have a homemade nailgun i am building a house with and look if they gets here.
strange that i as a "kid" can walk in a hardware store and buy HILTI smokeless cartriges that i play with..

i would hate to have a run in with the cops over spudguns (or anything) so i'm careful when i use them, and i only shoot them properly when i'm at my grandpa's because they have a large garden.

here in the US we have gun laws, requiring you to register guns when you purchase them, and when they are sold. Making something that can cause as much if not more destruction has good reason to be illegal... I dont think guns should be illegal too though...

Wow that sucks. I think I can face a $4000 fine and/or 6 months in prison. So i'm slightly better off 
If he was caught in a public place with it, where there are other people around, I say fair enough on the police confiscating the 'weapon' and giving him a fine. But a jail term is ridiculous unless he caused harm.
If he was on his own private property and he was only destroying his own property or not firing outside his property when the cops caught him, I say anything more then a confiscation and maybe a small hundred dollar fine would be enough.
