Spudgunning can't ever be put down as completely safe, but then again, nothing can.

However, a cannon constructed of proper materials and used within sensible limits, with attention paid to careful use, shouldn't be dangerous.

But things can and will go wrong, especially if you're not careful.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

The question isn't whether or not spudding is unsafe. It is no more dangerous than it ever was.

The question is whether or not more idiots are involved in the hobby. And honestly? I think the answer to that is yes.

But just because sites such as this one lower the bar and allow ever-dumber people to get themselves into trouble, that doesn't mean that any given person with a good head on his shoulders is any less safe than he ever was.

In MushiYoshi's defense, he WAS shooting in a desert with nothing unintentionally flammable around. Some better examples of the stupid crowd getting into spudguns are: [/rant]

anyway, I kind of liked Mushiyoshi's video. [/img]

Like most things spudgunning's only as safe as you make it, and quite frankly, if Darwin gets in on the act and pours a little chlorine in the gene pool, that's not necessarily a bad thing ;)

looked reasonably safe (considering the dangerous nature of what he was doing) and very cool 8) unfortunatly some people (like me) don't have anywhere to do cool dangerous things

Oh yea, i know he is. He is the same guy who recently made a tutorial on how to make these well made combustions.

He has convinced me to make a large bore combustion (plus my other one isnt working)

He has done this for some time and i see that he takes precautions some of us dont, by using hearing protection, eye protection, and other types of protection.

This hobby has both extremes meaning that it can be dangerous or safe.
Most of the time, alot of us are on the safe side because we research and find out what is safe to use into making a cannon out of.

This hobby can be as bad, and better than others. All we have to do is be sensible human beings and take precautions and we will be safe.

Also, there is nothing wrong with this video, i think the other ones that ramses posted are worse. But we are not allowed to discuss flaming projectiles so yea, thats it.

A proper gun isn't dangerous
the guy behind it can be extremely dangerous

as long as they don't shoot people which don't want to get shot I'm fine with it

thats one of my favorite videos :D

I really don't think anything like this is dangerous as long as it's done carefully and properly. Where you run into problems is when you get lazy high school kids who decide to throw together a "spudgun" and then pour gasoline into the barrel or something similar
