Australian spud gun owner acquitted
Was flicking through some old posts, came on this trend graph and found this news story linked to it, I thought some of our Australian members might find it to be of interest.

interesting story, but how many times can the excuse, "its a toy, i seen them do it on tv" get you off charges for having a potentially dangerous weapon.
sigh! i hate our laws in australia when it comes to firearms

Interesting, some less serious looking guns will pass off as being cheap fun. Though I won't try my chances in court if I've been found with a .38 600 psi gun I've made. Especially if it's fitted with a stock, sights, trigger etc.

Oh well..what comes around...
when it comes to boomerangs that is.
It's a pity about them laws, but understandable that people eventually get caught when they break them.
Even though they are far too strict.

Go tell an Aboriginal elder that. Chances are (seriously) that you will be speared through the legs.Moonbogg wrote:Ban boomerangs. Simply ban them. Harder and more dangerous than potatos.
Trying to ban a 'white mans' tool is one thing here, though Australian Aboriginals get a substantially larger list of rights and privileges than 'white' Australians. Hell, you can be 1/32nd Aboriginal and receive payments through the government to scrape bare minimal attendance at school, regardless of the grades you receive.

I didn't think SA was so bad? My girlfriend's father used to keep a loaded pistol in the kitchen drawer... oh wait, they didn't have a licence
I suppose this case doesn't really go for some of the more advanced cannons, but the defences he used are interesting, ie. so long as it isn't intended to be fired at people that's ok?

getting a pistol is harder just have to register and compete in 10 pistol compitions per gun each year. i think its the same of a pump action shot gun
i don't see you need a pistol at home or semi/full-auto rifles. its cool and all but you cant use it to defend your self.
my neighbour heard some noise the other night outside his house so he went out and took his Pitbull with him. When he got there he saw this crackhead looking guy trying to break into his car.
He saw him and took off running. and his dog took off after him. She caught him in the alley and got a pretty good piece out of his leg. he called the cops but they said that he could be in alot of trouble. Now he have to get a lawyer

That's all pretty messed up, here you can get a gun faster than a pizza. In the words of the owner of the gun store when we asked about the waiting period "You can get a gun faster than a pizza. In fact you could order a pizza come and buy a gun and get back in time to rob the pizza delivery boy with it."
We also have less psychopathic killers because they get shot at when the pull a gun or a knife on anyone.
