It can repeat much slower than that.
possibly 2 rps.
Just hard to get right with one hand on the cam.
I just opened it up fully.
BB got chopped dispite springloaded mag.
And it will give me loading problems if I go with a bolt.
Hence the vortex plan.

so, i don't want to rain on your parade, but what is the point of putting a burst of relatively low pressure air through a vortex gun? won't that just make it fire less? or am I not getting something here?

yeah, you definitly need to figure out a bolt/mag loading system, maybe an angles bolt so the BBs get pushed down intot he barrel? so the angle would be like / if the mag/hopper was to the right of the bolt? or this angle \ so BBs not fully into the barrel would just be pushed back up (but maybe a partial angle would be better.. let me draw a diagram!

- angles face would push partially loader BBs up, preventing chops (although not misfires)

I made just that. But I used a block of aluminium. So all channels are drilled, wich makes the points where they cross sharp.
Right now, the Deathray fires nicely. But the ( in comparison) huge bb-reservoir ( with plunger creating a void behind it) and the hardlines towards it, are creating an expansion vessel.
The actual pressure in the bb reservoir can;t get up as high as 300 psi.
The gas is escaping the barrel too fast. And if it does, that still means it's not putting all that gas to good use.
i need it to build up pressure in order to put more poof behind each shot, while getting it to fire for longer on a single bulb.
It;s portable right now, wich is cool, but it could be more powerfull.
I've had trouble puncturing a steel can before ( with not so great .177 bb barrel)
At 6 bar, with the snapvalve, I can
I plan to make the bb reservoir no bigger than for it to hold about 40 bb's.
This will cut down on wasted ( expansion-therefor lower-pressure) volume.
So there..

LOL sounds like you have it all under control! So there..
(but i don't get why the angled bolt doesn't work, is it because the lips of the mag tube are sharp?)

You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

Yep.
Plus the tube the bolt is made out of (5mm antenna material) is just too thin to put a really big sloped edge onto.
I cut it with a pipecutter, wich made the front bend inward, so it should
push the " second" bb up, but it doesn't becuase of the speed of the bolt.
and the fact it is hollow.
It has to be to feed air.
that is something you guys forget in the diagrams!
It just cuts em up.
I'll prove I'm right about the dead volume, and the feeding issue in a vid sometime next weekend.
I predict....all bb's buried in wood and cutting up steel cans like butter

the angled bolt doesn't work because the edge where the mag meets with the barrel is sharp, and the BB still will get caught on it. The obvious solution would be to round it out a little. It seems like figuring out a way to get it to work would be realllllllly worth it, because of all of the wasted air in a vortex... even with BtB's stripped down version, all of the air going into the chamber is basically wasted.

I know what you are trying to tell me, but the feed problem is because of the HOLLOW bolt.
And the cut down version will be a mayor improvement, it will never misfeed, cut up, or cause jams.Plus it is basically done already...
I could always use a bigger spring and go 400-500 psi...
If I'm not happy about the results, THEN I'll try the bolt again.
I just want it to be a carefree, high powered litte gun.

i know i suck with paint, but its not really worth making a nice pretty drawing just to impress the internet people LOL
and we'll see about that Brian, we'll see *evil laugh* (my Dad never listens to me either, but i'm always right

So that's where you got that from....
Perfect feeding bolt would be better...
But that is not ever gonna happen. See?
I'm going for the next best thing that is possible.
So yes you are right...and your not..
So drop it..
Anybody want to comment on the vid..maybe?

the vid is very nice...
now back to me being right
only kidding, i get the whole thing now with the hollow bolt being the problem, i was being a bit slow
well i look foreward to the next vid....

I get why you have such a high post count now..
Took me about two more years to get that much.
It is possible to use up to 1/2" ammo this way, with a small rise tube and snug ballammo reservoir leading up to it.
The valve does the rest...

Wait I'm a bit slow can you make a pretty diagram to exsplain why the hollow bolt is the problem?
