OK so i have just recently made my gun. I made the gun and today I did my first test. I took the potato shoved it down the barrel then sprayed hairspray in the other end then scrued the lid and then ignited it. it shot the potato fine it was really cool. So i did it again except this time instead of it shooting the potato nothing happened. So i aired out the gun and did the same thing again and nothing. then added a little more hairspary and ignited it. this time it blew the cap and the potato out . does anyone have any idea why?

This has been discussed a billion katrillion flipping times. Do some spudgun researching. Anyways either you didnt screw it on tight enough, threads damaged , or i could be several other things also. See why I get mad is why dont you first try to figure out what is wrong instead of asking us?

u wont notice that there is some wear on the threads, if it happened once, it will happen again

Try screwing it on with a pipe wrench. If you say its not the threads either you have a huge cannon or your not screwing on tight enough. Also make sure the threads are clean (male and female). Try WD40 on the threads usally you can screw it on farther with it. Also if there is any plastic injection marks still left on the cap the file them off. About you doing your research all im saying is the problem is obvouis its blowing off the end cap. So by knowing that you can go down the checklist (not screwed on tight enough, inperfection on the threads, threads dirty, etc) Which basically means is that your threads are not grabbing which is causing the above problems. Get what im saying? Your problem dosent need to be spelled out to you in Black and White just use some common sense to diagnose your problem. If you have already done this it would be nice to tell us so we can get that out of the way but I think this is your problem.

Sorry for the misunderstanding :oops: . I know by your last post that some how its something besides the end cap your talking about, but besides that I couldnt get any thing out of your post.

Below are three pics and you tell me what came off because this not making any sense.

Just the end cap?
<img src="http://potatocannon.nodice.org/images/V2-endcap1.jpg">
Both the end cap and the Female adapter?
<img src="http://www.free-mo.org/grafx/thumbnails ... EndCap.jpg">
Or just the female adapter? (not sure how it would blow off but who knows anythings possible with noobs)
<img src="http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/prod ... ont200.jpg">

Am I still way off? If Im still way off next time try to explain better and pictures would be greatly apreciated. Wait, wait, wait did you mean that just the square thing on the end cap blew out? If so that is bad and get on your knees and praise the lord that your still alive. Agian if that is what happened just curious but was the end cap new or was it old?

I thimk what he is trying to say is, that the center section of the end cap blew out leaving just the ring of threads in the female section. there is just a donut left of the end cap.

Ya thats what I thought. Not to sound harsh but answer to "what do I do" is obvious, go buy another end cap, because the one you have now obvious doesnt work anymore. I already asked this in the above post but did you buy that end cap or was it a old one?

You may not want to drill your igniter into a cap that isnt very thick to begin with. Try drilling directly into the chamber via one side of the cleanout adapter, and place the igniter there.

Well if the center of the end cap blasted into his hand it would serouisly jack his hand up. Proably wouldnt take it clean off though. I wonder what caused it to break?
