It looks like it wasn't loaded, and that all that came out was compressed air? Because any decent cannon would have left him with a head in pieces. And that glorious pink mist.

I can't tell what it was loaded with, though I can tell it had something in it. There was some paper or something floating down after it went off, perhaps from a sabot.

why do folks insist on looking down the barrel?!

It's a problem that has been causing accidents ever since barrelled weapons were invented, that's why stuff like this exists.

Ingenious little device there jack. Though I think a pocket mirror would work for us usually.

I think it was (loaded), but fortunately for him, and based on what the camera guy said at the start, I think the projectile was very near the top of the barrel so it had little distance to accelerate over. Probably a spud I guess.

That video is a good advert for common sense, a safety catch, breech loader and pneumatics.
You can be sure when you have a breech loader that the ammo is right where it should be.

Any problems... safety catch, open and inspect breech, find appropriate solution.

@JSR: I don't understand it... quick, look down the end that goes bang!!!

It is a human instinct to look down a barrel when a cannon doesnt work.
Because what do you expect to see? Something else then a projectile wich is a long way down? Or one thats approaching very fast?

But hey, if you just really cant help it and HAVE TO look down a barrel:
Use a mirror!
