I was wondering if a 3/4" sprinkler valve would be right for my cannon. I'm currently using a ball valve. I have heard sprinkler valves open slowly. Will a electrically actuated (not souped up) sprinkler valve still be a step up from a ball valve.

P.S. If I make it electrically actuated, will I have to hold down the button, or does it fire as soon as I press it?

Spend few more bucks to get a 1" and do pneumatic actuation... not electrical, you'll thank yourself later. There are tutorials on this site and even a video tutorial on bcvids.com

If you do decide to do electrical, you only press the button not hold it. But I agree with Talon, go with 1" and air mod it.

I only want to use 3/4" because my ball valve was 3/4" , so i don't need to scrap all my fittings and buy new ones. If I do air mod it, what is this "blowgun" stuff about? Also, do i need the hose and stuff off of http://www.mcmaster.com?

You just let the blowgun dump the air above the diaphram instead of the solenoid... look at the tutorial for instructions...

You can probably find the hose at home depot or lowes, I think I remember seeing it next to the PVC isle at home depot. Anywho, just go the the how to section and look at the tutorial, and you don't have to use hose if you don't want to. Just get the blowgun and a 1/4"(genreal blowgun size) piece withj male threads on each end. Officaily known as "1/4 In. x 1/4 In. NPT Male Coupling"

My gun has a 1.5" chamber and a 1/2" barrel. Do i really need the 1" sprinkler valve? Or is 3/4" ok?

Yes that would be a blowgun.
