Someone may have already posted about this, sorry if they have but I have just opened up a sprinkler valve I found in my spudgun part box and have found that it has a guide rod. I was thinking that it doesnt really do much and just gets in the way so I was think of pulling out of the top with pliers then drilling a hole for the blowgun. Is the guide rod 100% necessary or can it be removed without too much reduction in the power and airflow.
Thanks.

I have one of these valves and if u remove the guide rod the air just vents out from the barrle into the blow gun instead of out the barrel so u have to off set the sprinkler in the valve i did it with myn and then i used a dremmel to grind back the protruding 1/4 fiting inside of the valve

PM me if u need any more info i got pics but they are to big 2 load onto this site maybe i could e-mail u and show u how.

i just took mine straight out and it works fine, but if too much air is venting out of the blowgun instead of the barrel then i probably wouldnt even notice since i have only one pneumatic and therefore nothing to compare power with. does this make it lose much power?

Thanks a lot for your help, I might just make it an electric. Its only a school project and so far Ive spent $10 on a spudgun like the mega launcher exept with a smaller barrel for sniping. A sort of sniper but really really big. Hope to post pictures soon! Thanks again.

Well with my first pneumatic it did effect the power becuase hardly and came out of the barrel, but also another way around it is to slightly fill the hole where the guide rod was, because that is where the pressure leaks in to evenly pressureise both sides of the diaphram.i thought of this after i stuffed my first valve but instead i just off set the new blow gun trigger to let it stil have the guide rod.
