Hello everyone. I doubt any of you recognize me but I was a semi active member here a year or so back. I had to take a break from this hobby for a bit in order to pursue more important things (school, money, women, blah blah blah) and I've recently got some free time open up and have been playing with my old toys.

I'm wondering two things really:
1. What advances have been made in the last year? Any fun new ideas people have come up with?

2. What should my next project be? I've already got a very solid combustion that has lasted all this time, a simple double bust disc dart gun, a pretty little airsoft cloud and a not quite working coaxial pneumatic with a piston valve. What should i do?

I've always loved this community and im hoping to jump back into my favorite hobby

EDIT: coaxail /= inline oops

You are correct about possibly getting flamed for asking that!

It should say
"There are: XX new messages"
On the top of the page when you first logged back in. I'm sure it's in the thousands for you but you could start there

yeah i believe it was around 35,000 so I'm pretty sure I could find something slightly more productive than filtering through a sea of irrelevance

I got addicted to aluminum myself and hybrid making. I say go for a hybrid! Its the most powerful cannon type. What else is there to say?!

You underestimate my memory - or maybe I've just been reading the archives! You'll never know! BWHAHAHAHA!!!

Actually, your time was before I got active, but I lurked a lot before I first posted.

You've missed about two years. A lot has happened in that time. The obvious examples are my entire posting career (have fun, there's almost 4000 of them to get through), Larda's stuff, and... well, just pick out anything on this list that you don't already know:
http://www.spudfiles.com/spud_wiki/inde ... 6_articles

I do mean to update that list, it's about 8 months old, but it's enough to get you part of the way back up to speed.

A lot, to be frank.

Hybrids are somewhat more effort to operate than a pneumatic, and there are currently no amateur hybrids that demonstrate anything that could really be called rate of fire. Fix those problems, and then you might be in business.

There's a reason why the only hybrid designs in my ideas folder that get taken as serious possibilities are the ones that have sorted those issues.

Okay, I've just updated that Spudwiki page with some of the cannons that most impressed me during the last 8 months (and some older ones that deserved it as well).

*Cue everyone going and looking to see if I've added them*

Maybe. But given most of those designs bear much similarity to the end result, or they experienced issues... I think it's fine as it is.

It's a wiki page most of you can edit. It's not like it's a highly exclusive club only I can permit entry to.
(Hmm, would that make me some kind of doorman? Crap, I need a stab-proof vest)

However, it seems like I'm the only person who does add to the list - save MrCrowley adding a couple of things, no-one else has touched the page.

Bear in mind, it shouldn't be taken as a "best and greatest cannons" list. The cannons are worthy of attention, but not necessarily because they're epically jawdropping.

I was referring to the original post, not the wiki ;)
