Well I have been talking and thinking a lot abut stocks. Mainly simple ways to make them, without investing losts of time and money. In my opinion the nicest stocks are still the old fashion, walnut ones. But making these is expensive and requires lots of time and patience or lots of tools both which i don't have. And so, on my search for an easy way to make stocks, i was often advised to make a foam core(closed cell foam) and to wrap this in fiber glass. I finally decided to make this and first attempted with fiber glass sheeting and resin, and tried to mix in some cut up fibers, overall a diaster that i broke in half and threw out. Then i tried again, making a stock from foam, using a rasp, a dremel, and a saw and then coating it with a mixture of resin and cut up fibers. And it worked. Though i ran out half way, you get the idea of what i am doing. The stock will need to be sanded and painted or i could try and use wood veneer, though i have no experience, it may give a very nice looking stock. Either way i thought i would post this here for people to be inspired. I know the idea is very crude and there are ways to improve on it, but i thought it would be a nice way to quickly make a stock and wanted to share this with all of you.
I also ask for suggestions, comments and advice if you have any, on any aspect of making this.
