Fall 2010 Best Shot Contest - Official Thread
Posted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 6:09 pm
This is the official thread for the Fall 2010 Best Shot contest. All video submissions are to be made in this thread, and you are also free to discuss any matters pertaining to the contest here.
The goal of this contest is quite simple. Using a launcher, ammo, and target that abide by the site's rules, create and film the most impressive and/or creative visual display you can manage. There is a limit of one shot per entry, or if rapid fire launchers are used, one uncut second of firing. Solid propellants/explosives in the launcher, ammo, or target is not allowed, as such would be in violation of the SpudFiles rules. However, you may use pressurized gases or gaseous oxidizer/fuel mixtures to enhance the display.
Credit to clide for the majority of the rules/guidelines; much of this has simply been carried over from his original 2007 best shot contest thread.
Rules:
o One shot or one uncut (real time) second of firing.
o One entry per user.
o No explosives in the ammo or the target.
o No solid propellants in the launcher.
o No firing at humans or animals.
o May use pressurized gases or oxidizer/fuel mixtures in the ammo or target.
o Must submit your own video, nothing that somebody else has done.
o Shots you have recorded in the past can be entered in this competition.
Submission Guidelines:
o Feel free to use slow motion or high speed video, but if using the one second rule, also provide real time.
o Pictures of the gun and aftermath photos can also be included in the video.
o Please make sure that the entry video only contains one shot or one second of shooting (it can contain that one shot multiple times). DO NOT submit a series of shots and try to specify which shot you want to enter.
o Format can be anything that most people can view. YouTube, Google video, Vimeo, and Photobucket are all acceptable hosting sites.
o Deadline is 11:59p.m. CST on October 31st (Halloween night).
o Entries should be posted in this thread.
Judging:
o If there is a limited number of entries I will start a poll to determine the winner
o If there are a lot of entries then I will get at least three members who I feel can make an unbiased decision(respected members not entered in the contest) to narrow the results down to the top 6 for a poll
Prizes:
Currently, in addition to bragging rights on SpudFiles, I have the following prizes:
o (2) Electronic BBQ igniters, valued at $20 each
o High pressure pengun, constructed by JSR
o Custom made HDPE piston from Technician1002
o PayPal donations: $10 SB15, $30 JSR, $20 mark.f
If anyone would like to donate prizes, please send me a PM.
That about covers it for now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread. You may begin submitting entries at any point, but keep in mind that you have well over a month to prepare, film, and edit your video, so do not feel pressured to rush into it. Good luck to all participants.
Perhaps a mod could sticky this for the time being.
