Modding the "Wrong Type" of sprinkler valve.

I know I'm very new to this site so I don't have much respect but I think I have made something pretty neat and I should share it with this awesome place.
On the weekend I went to Bunnings (not sure if they have bunnings in USA but its a hardware store) and I bought a sprinkler valve, took it home and opened it only to realise its the wrong kind. So I made do.
Before you read this look at how to mod the good kind of sprinkler-valve and completely under-stand it. http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=305&

Once I have opened up the valve here are the parts.

These 2 bits go together like this.

Here is the spring on top of the top half. (They are not glued to each other) Take note of that hole on the left with the little groove, its important.

Here is the suction cup type thing that goes on top of the first bit that I showed you.

ok now that I have shown you the guts of the valve I will show you how to start modding it.
Remember that hole I said to take not of, well here's why. First drill a guide hole close to the hole, basically so that your hole will end-up where mine did. (Right next to that inner circle)

You might need to grind down the side of where the solenoid was.

now basically screw or glue your fitting in. Try to only put it in far enough to make the end of the fitting flush with the sides if you know what I mean. Make it so that the fitting doesn't poke out on the inside. I didn't have the right kind-of fitting and the shop that I tried to get them off were selling them for $7!!! So I improvised.

Now do as it says how to in the original modding a sprinler valve tutorial.

Now your done. here's my finished product.

I hope it comes in handy.
