i try to stick around 1/8"-1/4" gap, but thats with a peizo bbq ignitor, a stungun would allow much longer lengths

does that mean that a longer spark gap is better?

I don't think it really matters, however there hasn't really been any testing on it. You can test if you'd like

Longer spark isn't as hot. Shorter spark is hotter, but doesn't light as much gas on fire. Best spark would be one that fills your whole chamber, instantly superheating all the air inside, creating pressure with out the need for fuel.

Is that possible? Has it been done or is it just a theory?

i guess its possible to make a whole bunch of little sparks that nearly fill the chamber, but it would be very hard.

ok, besides filling the chamber with superheated sparks should i go for about medium length so i get the area coverage and the heat from long and short sparks?

A larger spark has a greater chance of ignting fuel that is not mixed properly, because it covers a large area, but if you using a chamber fan, it should matter.
