I thought that too. Seems to me that almost anoyone who is a member here would rather make thier own cannon. Of course soudfiles is a prominent site on google for spudguns, so anyone looking to buy one might end up coming here first.

I agree. Its not like that aluminum is special. Doubt it matters to PCGUY (how else would you figure out that it was expensive?) But to who ever owns that site, You should put more economical stuff, not all custom machined.

I think they are making things much more difficult than they really are. The gun they are charging 1099 for could easily be made for 30 dollars (US) without all of the extra fancy things.

Im not trying to critisize their business or anything, but like someone said above me, very few hobbyists would be interested in what they are selling. I was much more likely to buy something from bcarms.

In my opinion, our sponsors should represent the community as a whole. And by represent, i mean support what we are doing. They arent really supporting the hobby. Instead they are trying to sell things they built along with parts that are far too overpriced so you can build your own.

Personally, i think kits take away the fun anyway. Building it is most of the fun for me. And its much more gratifying to think through it than follow someone else's instructions.

I also took a look a while ago, And apart from the offset barrel connections, there is really nothing special about the guns, needless to say that someone with one of those is going to command respect. It is a sweet looking gun, but it is their only piece of merchandise, and is really nothing all to special.

I don't mind them, but I don't think they will see a lot of business ANYWHERE, much less on this site. its just a bad field to get into where people are more into building the object in question than buying it whole, and at prices like that, many of the people who cannot build would be scared off.

Thanks for all the comments... I've built many Home Depot specials and was looking for something really custom. I understand the zen of making a run to HD and putting together something in an afternoon that works well for cheap. I built the first one at a friends machine shop and immediately had people interested, hence the website. The last 6 months was a lot fun designing/refining it and putting it together, probably why we are all here. I designed this to be a performer and have a real military feel.

Honestly the web site can't convey the performance and reliability so I'll be posting some video footage shortly.

To answer some of your questions:
-CNC machining is expensive and these parts are made domestically with tolerances of +/- .003"
-There is nothing like this out there.
-The metering device was engineered from the ground up and is pending a patent.

Yes, we understand that it is all CNC milled to within .003, but the thing is, Why would anybody need that? having perfectly milled rings and such is alright, but on a spud gun it is not really needed, these are not high precision machines, and people do not treat them as such. Having extremely precise expensive parts on what is essentially a toy is like having a gold plated turd, its pretty, but no one needs it. The gun is really nice, but its excessive.

That precision is pointless. I doubt the PVC is held to that tolerance. I had a railgun enclosure cut to .001", and that actually made if more difficult. That much cost still is too much for the tolerance. For 4 pieces of garolite, the machining cost was only 75$ I do like the metering though, drop the price, and i bet people will buy it.
