We all know that the search funtion doesn't work well
try this >>

http://www.google.com/sitesearch/

Works fine for me. Can't we just add it here ?

I am sure that will help to reduce the number of posts asking over and over again for the same thing - we can't blame that really since the search function does not work well

But then we would have to wait for a post to be crawled by Google before it would show up in the search results.

Honestly, the search function has always worked fine for me.

The quick search that appears on the front page is indeed a crock of shíte.

The advanced search on the other hand works well enough if used correctly.

Yes like JSR said, the quick search I have never got to work however I usually find what I am looking for with the advanced.

I just search "Combustion cartridge site:www.spudfiles.com"

The "site:www.etc.com" tell google to only look on the specified site.

Easy.

For all I know google is better, but personally I've never felt the need to try it.

Is there any way we can make any quick search redirect to the advanced search with "and" selected? Or redirect to "how to search effectively"

Or even make it AND the words by default?
