A very thinly veiled move to foist the google+ account few people actually want on the general population. They claim it is to filter out the trolls and spam and "turn comments into conversations". Right.
Edit: I just noticed Spudfiles gives us the options of sharing posts on google+! and also... tumblr? What self respecting spudfiler has a tumblr account?

Until now you could opt out and still continue using youtube regularly. The way it is now, the only way to comment is through google+.

This new merging doesn't bug me at all. The sites are still free to use, unless you want premium accounts....

Can't tell you how important it is to host with nobody. I lost a lot of video and images hosting with sites that later went down without a whole lot of warning (putfile, etc.). Obviously use them to distribute your content, but keep the originals backed up and local.

Perhaps I misused the term "host"....I use these services as a convenience for posting that which I choose to share and do maintain the original and a backup.

google+ is still better than facebook... bot are annoying, but I guess they're so commonly used these days that avoiding them gets harder and harder each month

No programs huh?
Google wants all your data online.
I see how this can be convenient, but it puts all your data in the hands of a faceless conglomerate.
It's kind of a new thought, but not strictly a good one.

This is why I encourage users to upload their pics to the SpudFiles forums since they won't turn into dead links unfortunately we've lost several pieces of good data from old creations due to things disappearing from photobuckets and such.
