for the hard core hobby dudes, has anyone ever tried to build a hovercraft? i have. 2 actually. when built correctly they kick ass. im gonna try to get some pictures up soon.

I built a hoverboard once. It got off the ground but there wasn't enough surface to "glide" on. I also scrapped the idea because it wasn't portable.

I have one of those old ghetto ski doos(jet ski) the stand up kind. me and a freid are going to make it into a hover craft any ideas

I builded 2-3 small about an yaer ago.They didn't go very fast.But it was a great fun when trying to go straight.

The design criterion for watercraft and hovercraft are entirly different, so you'd be better off making the frame from scratch, as the jet ski will be relitivly heavy, have a small footprint, have a keel, and be fairly tall.

i am working on a hover craft right now and it is not working i have a 24 inch propeller and a whiper snipper motor as propulsion an a blower for levetation also a tarpoline for a skirt but it is not hovering enogh i think it is because of the skirt any sugestions
before you criticise some one walk a mile in there shoes.
that way when you criticise them you are a mile away and you have there shoes.

Is your skirt tubler with holes all around the bottem, (directly under neath)? Most hovercrafts ride on there skirts anyway. I had a typhone and drove it so much the skirt got rubbed through at the bottem. I seen a tv show were they, (the builders) were putting F16 cockpitts in them. These machines were awsum!

I built hovercraft about 3 years ago, it didn't work very well but I think it was a pretty good for my first try. you can check it out at http://www.instructables.com/ex/i/AABF7 ... 143E7E506/ I saw the crafts they built on junkyard wars and went out to the garage and built my own. Check out the instructables site too its pretty cool and they have some spud guns as well

If the hovercraft isn't hovering enough then make more/bigger holes. But don't do too much at a time otherwise you might have too many holes, which would be hard to undo unless you got a new skirt.

i used a 5 horse engine with 24 inch prop and an air box to push air into skirt and ruder/cable system to stere and you can by a cowaling from unaversal hovercraft or make one from foam and fiberglass
