been out of town for a few days. it is an oxygen tank. rated to 2216 psi. the gun is very heavy. the tank alone has 3/4 inch thick wall at the rounded top and bottom. so it alone is heavy. its a handfull for one person to hold and fire. the heavy weight of the cannon virtually eliminates any recoil on low mass projectiles. the guns weakest component is the valve which still has 1/4 inch thick walls. it think it could easily go over 300. but to what expense of my piston? the compressor has still not arrived as of this morning. getting real anxious now. the cannon was built at work where we have two cnc lathes and 5 cnc vertical machining centers, robotic welder, and all the other cool machinery. i am a cnc programmer and machinist by trade, and part time projectile accelerator. hope this answers some questions. stay tuned for damage. really hoping this weekend.

You're so lucky tro have all those resources, but now you have to prove that you "deserve" those machines by building some more awesome guns! :D J/k but you're still really lucky.
Can the robotic welder say stuff like, "hello_I_am_Ettian"??? :D

"Part-time projectile accelerator" I' like this guy, haha. Gun looks mean, can't wait for the damage shots.

I'm sure you could have achieved the same results with a miter saw and a TIG welder, no? Wouldn't have all the custom flanges & such, but you could have gotten away with using standard butt-weld pipe fittings. The smallest tolerance I have ever had to deal with in a spudgun was never smaller than a few hundredths of an inch. Easily accomplished with care, a set of cheap calipers, and a set of jewelers files. There are many here who have mad perfectly airtight and solid pistons without CNC mills as well.

But, it is a sick gun, either way you look at it. I like the hornet-inspired paintjob, and I'd like to see more visual details of this piston of yours. From what you describe it as, it should withstand 300 PSI no problem.

thanks. i'm gonna add more sheets of plywood to my target tommorrow. i want to find out how many layers it takes to stop it. hopefully i can post more videos tommorrow night. i've acquired an oxygen tank to use to fill the stinger. just have to purchase a regulator. i can get it filled, with compressed air, by a gas supplier for $8.50. cant wait to crank this baby up. inspected and lubed piston tonight. its still good as new. only slight wear on rubber sealing face.
