That long barrel? Judging by the pressure drop, the barrel should be about 8x as long as it already is. Ball valves are OK with the right length of barrel, but with such a short, low diameter barrel, a fast valve is far better.

Simple and powerful,i like it,but it would be more powerful if you replace the 1/2'' ball valve with a modded sprinkler valve.

I piston valves rock to but brass ball valve own with high pressures and they never leak. They also are just plain amazing. Also you need them to build a piston valve in most cases.
The Doors are awesome, Led Zeppelin is amazing, and Motley Crue kicks @$$.

You can get a good HR sprinkler valve for $35 (im auzzie to) at a local irrigation shop (look in yellow pages)

I'm an aussie as well, i got my 25mm (roughly 1") sprinkler valve from bunnings, cost me around AU$15
