i finally have all the parts to make my 6mm sniper rifle so i have started off making the barrel and obviously i'm making a silencer so i was just wonder if i should drill holes in the last 10,15 or 20cm of the barrel.
The specs are:
Chamber: 20cm of 15mm copper
Valve:1/2" qev
Barrel: 1m of 8mm aluminium pipe (6mm id) inside 1m of 15mm copper (which will have hole in aswell)
max operating pressure: ~250-300 psi
silencer length: ~40-60cm of 1.5" pipe
Thanks Alasdair.

Well i'd say go 20cm, because most people say, make it as big as you can, and as big as your chamber. I'd drill lots of little holes in it, and insulate it with something realy absorbing! Cant wait to see the lil beast. ive allways wanted a 6mm copper sniper rifle

the longer the length that's drilled, you'll have less power but also less noise - it's a matter of what's most important to you.
60cm of 1.5" pipe is a reasonable suppressor volume, don't forget to include baffles

If you're silencer is going to be 40 - 60 cm long, i'd drill little holes like maybe 1/16 dia. along the whole length of the silencer, and as JSR dont forget to include baffling, I had a buddy make a silencer for a hi-point 9mm assault rifle and he used rolled up leftover carpet and his baffling.

hmm i will probably drill the holes in the last 20cm of the barrel then for an effective silencer and power
sorry not baffles umm wadding i guess would thenbe the correct term, what about baffles with wadding in between them??

that works as well, though it's a bit of a trial and error thing.
