Wow jack lol I guess you answered my question as to whether or not it would work. As far as that go's you nailed right on it...literally lol
Infact our designs are almost too similar. Great job for being 16. at the time.

I just realised I screwed up the link, but you seem to have found it anyway :)

For completeness sake: 6mm crossbow project

It will definitely work, after all it's just like any spring airgun, but you're simply replacing the helical spring with a bow. It would probably be relativly simple to develop a ratchet mechanism that would work a revolver magazine.

So far I'm deciding what kind of parts i'm going to use. Theres the possability of using an old crossbow shaft or totally designing from scratch.. I was thinking that when you draw the string back it could revolve the ammo cart.

I have actually made a very deadly bow from wood and thin superhard sea grass twined together from the beach. took me about 20 minutes. Made my own arrow and the bow probably had like 50 lbs of test strength and could probably take down a midsize animal if you were in desperate need for survival.

Come to think of it you can find all sorts of things on the beach that float up that could be useful for different hobbies including spudgunning. I have found countless golfballs , hardened peices of driftwood in the shape of stocks, glass and metal float balls from nets...

I think I will challenge myself to this project and build the entire unit from peoples leftover junk. So this morning I shall be off diving in various dumpsters and looking for scrap parts lying around friends yards and garages and will report back later with the findings. Thanks for the inspiration guys :)

Exact thought that i had in mind...

Unless you had a better way of propulsion, i'd say the idea is weak.

I actually drew up some plans to replicate that - if only I could remember where in blazes I put them...
I have too many ideas, and too little budget.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

i tried this idea with paintballs and a normal coompound bow. it didnt work, the paintball went like 35 feet. You could throw it farther. but i did not do the burst disk that could be why it didnt work.

I remember using a blowgun with 6mm paintballs and with just your lungs you could easily splat them on someone from 40-50 feet away. I would imagine with the burst disc there would be plenty of power with this type of setup

I think the burst disk would most def add loads of power. Since the pressure would build up first before the projectile is launched theres pretty much no boundaries to the power of the gun. If you put a really strong bow on it then all you need to do is put a stronger burst disk. I cant wait to see what it comes out like. Id really like to make the same thing. Of course if you don't mind.

Yea lets just say that if the burst disk is set for like 30 psi, nomatter if its a spring, bow string, or compressed air, its still gonna fire the projectile the same when it does burst

Exactly but this way you wont have to pressurize the chamber. Custom made cartridges can be created to fit the revolver (as long as they are tight fit with the o-ring etc).
I have a signature. In Russia signature has you.
