copper piston question
I am building a copper pisston in a tee. I have the actual piston and the tee finished but I am trying to figger out how to trigger it. I am trying to fill a 1/2 inch copper 45 degree angle with copper epoxy, with a brass 3/8 connection inside the angle while it drys. Then I was going to drill a hole in the side of the angle and screw in a schrader valve. I was just wondering wether or not this would work, because it cannot be the same as the other copper piston tee to conserve space.

wow that's a difficult text maybe a better describtion and some pics will help (maybe im just dumb)
but I do know that if you make a piston it's reccomended you can open the place from the piston because piston don't work always or stop working proper after shooting .

I would recommend you to use quick disconnect fittings as filling valve, and place the male after the ballvalve. I have used that with great succes on my own launchers. But if you insist on that schrader valve, i would put a tee instead of the bend and add an end cap in which i would mount the schrader. What you have drawn up there looks like it is going to be damn hard to seal, and like it will weaken the copper pipe.

I think the copper pipe is to thin to hold the schrader valve with out leaking, just my opinion. Is that a QEV for a piloting valve in the drawing?
If I'm not mistaken, you can put your fill valve on the QEV.

yea i agree with jrrdw- put it on the QEV. you could probably put it in the copper, but i don't think it would be very safe

I'll agree with hyldgaard. Use a tee instead of the 45.

I know you are trying to limit pilot volume, but this passage needs to be of a decent size. All of your pilot volume has to take this route, so don't restrict it.
If you want to, you could still fill and drill the tee where the schrader goes, but leave the air passage "full bore" for the rest.
